Dengue kills more than 22,000 people each year

Each year, the dengue virus infects 50 to 100 million people and kills on average 22,000, about three times higher than those killed by the virus A (H1N1) in 2009.

So says an article published in the latest edition of the Bulletin of the World Health Organization (WHO). According to the publication, Brazil is the country with more cases reported annually and 61% of those that occurred worldwide between 2000 and 2005.
